Rex Putnam Kingsmen asserted their will over Hillsboro on their way to a 10-2 victory.
The Rex Putnam Kingsmen got things moving in the first inning. Jayden Junta singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. In the bottom of the second inning, Hillsboro tied things up at one when Peterson grounded out, scoring one run.
The Kingsmen pulled away for good with one run in the third inning. In the third Vinny Salvione singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Putnam put up four runs in the fourth inning. They were led by John Irish, K.J. Ruffo, and Salvione, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Junta earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Rex Putnam Kingsmen. He went six innings, allowing two runs (none earned) on five hits and striking out five. Hunter Hanson threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
The Kingsmen racked up 12 hits on the day. Salvione, Junta, and Sam Sholty each had multiple hits. Salvione went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Rex Putnam stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one.
