Rex Putnam’s summer baseball team sponsored by Taylor Electric had a big Tournament win over the weekend. In the tournament, Taylor went 3-0 with wins over the home Hillsboro Spartans (10-0), an International team with players from Australia, Dominican Republic, and Africa (8-7), and Century High School (10-3). This is the second tournament win of the summer for the Taylor Electric team.

For the tournament, Taylor’s bats were hot. The team racked up 31 hits over the 3 games, scoring 28 runs. The pitchers combined to give up 10 runs, only 7 earned.

The stressful game of the tournament came in game two. A team comprised of international players played Taylor to a close 8-7 game. Taylor would jump ahead to a quick 7-0 lead after 3 innings. The International team would claw their way back into it, scoring 4, 2, and 1 run in the 4th through 6th innings. Fortunately Taylor Electric would scratch together a run of their own in the 5th inning. Nick Geertsen, Vinny Salvione, and Tanner Drog worked together to pull the win on the mound. Salvione would lead the way with 3 rbi at the dish.

Next Up: Taylor will host a 12 team – single elimination tournament the weekend of July 25th, 26th, 27th.
